About the album

Vivendo e Aprendendo, the electrifying new duo album from mandolin virtuosos Isaac Eicher and Ian Coury, is turning heads in the acoustic music world and expanding the boundaries of modern mandolin music. Both artists, already celebrated for their innovative solo work, join forces to propel the instrument into fresh territory, blending jazz, Brazilian music, classical and much more.

Eicher, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Coury, from Brasília, Brazil, felt an instant musical connection when they first played together, knowing immediately they wanted to record a duo project. The resulting album is a brilliant exchange where the American and Brazilian style mandolins speak the same language, complimenting each other in constant interplay and harmony.

The album features three original compositions from each artist, showcasing their skills as composers and arrangers, as well as a few covers like the jazz standard “All The Things You Are” and Stevie Wonder’s timeless “I Just Called to Say I Love You.” From track to track, their technical mastery and rhythmic drive shine as they trade melodies, weave harmonies, and execute captivating arrangements. Vivendo e Aprendendo is a must-listen for fans of jazz, Brazilian music, Latin music, acoustic innovation, and the boundless possibilities of the mandolin.
